Anthony LaCurio is an illustrator  for The Beano & The Dandy children’s comics,

and he lives and works in Torquay.

He started his career at Wimbledon Art School in London,

 moving on to a three-year degree course at Surrey University, where he studied fine art & philosophy.

He ignored everything he learned and went on to teach himself illustration and calligraphy,

 and has drawn cartoons for kids’ comics & annuals for the past 17 years.

He specializes in Desperate Dan, Beryl the Peril & Korky the Cat,

and has also been published as Dennis the Menace, Roger the Dodger, Keyhole Kate and many more.

The Quillpen’s Quest is his new series of original pictures. Influenced just as much by classical art, illumination & engraving as they are by contemporary watercolour illustration, they show that he is still a philosopher at heart.
